Step 1: Determine which series Comet you have if you can. Options are:
- 20 Series - Symmetrical
- 30 Series - Asymmetrical (newest style - includes TAV - most common)
- 340 Series - Symmetrical
- 40/44 Series - Symmetrical
- 500 Series - Symmetrical
Symmetrical units take a v-belt. Asymmetrical units take a belt that is flat on one side with a top width of 3/4".
Step 2: Determine the outside diameter (OD) of your driven clutch. The driven clutch is the one in the rear, not the one on the engine.
Step 3: Determine the center distance (CD) between your drive and drive clutch. Measure from the center of the drive clutch to the center of the driven clutch for this.
Step 4: Determine the top width of your belt.
Step 5: Find your series in the charts below OR go by the specs you have found.
Step 6: Search our site for the part number that fits your specs. If it doesn't come up, please contact us as we do have access to all Comet belts!
